library related blogs/new feeds

I found that I like Librarians internet index the most of all the "reference" type news feeds.

I am "finished" but want to keep learning!

I have really enjoyed learning all the new (or at least new to me) technologies available to me through the internet. I plan to review what I've learned and keep learning more! Lifetime learning is the best!

downloadable audiobooks

I learned that there are more free resources for e books out there! NetLibrary is a great resource for library card holders at this library. Project Gutenberg is something new to me! What a great idea!

ueful search tools- podcasts

I found Merlin to be helpful when wading through the uncharted waters of podcasts. I found out that the Denver public library has cool kids books that are now podcasts, such as Silly Sally. I'm wondering if people will eventually give away their television sets and stay premanently fixed in front of their computer screens.

web 2.0 awards list

I found this to be a really fun site and I accessed some cool art sites and something called "Ning"
There is just sooomuch out there to see and the possibilities seem endless!! No one should ever feel alone- there's a lot of social networking out there. And of course, it's a good way to share ideas.

online productivity

This was a good reminder that I could use the new technology for templates- invitations, fact sheets, etc. Maybe I could finally set up a budget using a spreadsheet.... now the question is if I could stick to it.....

Sandbox

I liked playing in the sandbox! The whole concept helped me be more creative and explore new topics! I jumped in a dog sandbox and put my 2 cents in about how great labs are!

wicked wikis

I'm surprised that wikis are being recommended as good library resources. Since anyone can edit wikis they may not be reliable. Wikapedia is not always the most accurate source for patrons.

web 2.0 & library 2.0

I found the perspectives on Web 2.0 and Library 2.0 very interesting. The library is changing everyday just as the web and people (who make up the web) also adapt and change. Libraries need to keep up with available technology and help patrons access information.

Terrible Technorati

Well, if you want to drive yourself crazy like I did, try to sign on to Technorati. I couldn't seem to pick a passwork they would accept. And actually, I'm not so sure I would even want to be connected to Technorati considering some of the questionable stuff I saw on there. It seemed to easy to bring up a bad site.

del.icio.us

I kind of like del.icio.us- it is a neat way of searching for topics. It would be easier if I stayed at one computer at work and didn't have to run to the back room to check my e-mail for verificaton to sign up. But now I have easy access to neat tags such as "50 best cookie recipes on the internet".

Rollyo

I am not that crazy about Rollyo. I admit that part of the problem is remembering passwords, etc.! I'm glad that I have learned about this but I don't think that it is something I will really go back to.

LibraryThing

I really like LibraryThing! It's a great way to find author read-alikes by people who are reading similar books. I am now a member of probably the biggest book club ever!

RSS feeds and my new Bloglines newsreader account

I signed up to receive bloglines and now I can quickly access any blogs that I am interested in. So far I get "AboutCats" and "DogReader" and even birding news. And of course I set up a current weather feed.

YouTube- new fun technology

I really think YouTube is one of the more exciting things I've learned about so far! There are so many possibilities to explore! I'm not sure that I'm ready to put a video on YouTube but I'm going to keep checking the site for interesting videos.

More fun with Flickr- mashups and 3rd party sites!

I'm really amazed to find out all the cool things you can do with Flickr! It seems like a great way to show off photos and maybe even create a funny cartoon with captions! I'll definitely have to share this site with my kids.

Week 3, Thing 5 kristen has been a lifesaver helping me with flickr

It has been a little difficult for me to navigate in and around Flickr. I'm sure it will get easier as I play around with it a while. I think it is a really neat site and I am glad that I've had the opportunity to learn how to use this. This is a picture of Kristen and Julie at ALA recently. I uploaded this from my flickr account.
